Quality measures included
The quality measures address diabetes care management. They
are evidence-based and were developed by the National Committee
for Quality Assurance, along with the American Medical Association
and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and endorsed
by the National Quality Forum. The measures in the DFW Diabetes
Care Report were selected from these measures by the PPHP
Performance Metrics/Public Reporting Committee and reviewed
by the PPHP Leadership Team and PPHP Physician Advisory Council.
The four diabetes measures, based commercial claims data
for the measurement year, are:
- A1c test
- LDL test
- Nephropathy test or treatment
- Retinal exam
Two outcome measures also are calculated and reported, but
the data are incomplete and are not considered reliable. That's
because claims systems currently are limited in their ability
to link lab values to patients and their prescribing physicians.
However, average A1c and LDL values are calculated for those
values that can be captured.
