About the report
The purpose of the DFW Diabetes Care Reports is to advise
physicians of the quality measurement work that is underway
in Dallas-Fort Worth, to share results with physicians, and
to begin a dialogue about ways to improve diabetes care in
the DFW area. These reports are sent to physicians for their
information and are not being shared publicly. By aggregating
claims data at the physician level across five health plans,
the Diabetes Care Reports provide physicians with a broader,
more statistically significant view of the care their diabetes
patients receive. It should be noted that the results reported
reflect not just physician activity, but also the impact of
patient adherence to doctor's orders, health plan design and
claims coding.
The Partnership for Peak Healthcare Performance mailed baseline
DFW Diabetes Care Reports to physicians in 2009, and will
mail annual reports annually. DFW physicians who practice
in the specialties of endocrinology, family practice, general
practice and internal medicine; who contracted with one or
more of five participating commercial health plans during
the measurements year; and who performed services for at least
20 eligible patients with diabetes receive DFW Diabetes Care
Reports. About 1,300 physicians receive Diabetes Care Reports.
